Weekly starters: Liriano's lighting 'em up

Weekly starters: Liriano's lighting 'em up

Top two-start pitchers of the week

CC Sabathia, Milwaukee: The best pitcher in the game the second half of the season is an automatic play every time out. When he gets two starts in a period, just sit back and be glad you got so lucky in what is most league's championship week. What a treat.

Derek Lowe, Los Angeles Dodgers: He could legitimately be considered the best start in fantasy this week. He's been absolutely on fire the six starts (just five ER), hasn't been walking many (only seven) and has the best matchups of anyone, with games against two of the lightest hitting teams in baseball right now - San Francisco and Pittsburgh.

Daisuke Matsuzaka, Boston: It can't be said enough ... this guy knows how to win games. It's ridiculous the amount of the times the Red Sox have won when he pitches this season (21 of 26 games). Sure, he walks a ton of people, so your WHIP is gonna suck. That also keeps his strikeouts down, because he's forced to leave most games in the sixth and seventh innings. But his ERA is stellar (2.97) and his record is even better (16-2).

Scott Kazmir, Tampa Bay: The Rays have won nine of his last 10 starts, which should say enough right there. However, it gets better. His ERA dropped below 3.00 for the first time all season after his last outing (2.99), and he's given up just two runs in his last three games. He's also struck out at least six batters in six of his last seven, which is an added bonus.

Francisco Liriano, Minnesota: He's only allowed two or less runs in each of his last six starts, absolutely dominating hitters again like he did two seasons ago. It's nice to see him become the ace of that staff. The strikeouts are above average, but not stellar like they once were, but you can't let that effect you. He's back, baby. Start him at will.

Brett Myers, Philadelphia: He gave up four runs inhis last start, but prior to that he had been on fire. In his previous four outings, he had allowed just two runs in 31 innings, winning all four of those, and seven of eight overall. He's a fireballer who gets plenty of strikeouts, and he'll get to go against two teams out of playoff contention in Atlanta and Florida.
