OF Ryan Sweeney (sore left foot) fouled a ball of his foot May 28 and had to leave the game for X-rays. He sat out May 29, and he was placed on the disabled list on May 30.

3B Eric Chavez (right shoulder surgery in September 2007, lower back surgery in October 2007, left shoulder surgery in November 2007) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 24. Chavez took batting practice April 25, and he fielded grounders for the first time April 30. He started a rehab assignment with Class AAA Sacramento on May 15, and he was activated May 29.

DH Frank Thomas (inflamed right quadriceps) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 28.

RHP Andrew Brown (appendectomy) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 14. Manager Bob Geren was hopeful Brown might return when he's first eligible, but appendectomies typically require three to five weeks of recovery time.

INF Donnie Murphy (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 18.

RHP Santiago Casilla (mild strained right elbow ligament) went on the 15-day disabled list May 16. He might return in mid- to late June.

OF Chris Denorfia (lower back stiffness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 5. He played four games on a rehab assignment with Class AAA Sacramento in late May before suffering a setback.

RHP Kiko Calero (torn right rotator cuff) opened the season on the 60-day disabled list. He is attempting to rehab his shoulder without surgery. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Sacramento on May 10.
