--RHP Keith Foulke recorded his 600th career appearance on Sunday and pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out Boston's David Ortiz to end it. It was Foulke's first outing in six days. He hasn't allowed his former Red Sox team a run in four outings this season.
--RHP Huston Street's streak of consecutive batters retired ended at 15 in a row when Julio Lugo singled with one out in the ninth on Sunday. Ten of the 15 batters retired were strikeouts. Street has 230 career strikeouts in 222 1/3 innings. His save on Saturday night, a combined one-hitter with Justin Duchscherer, was Street's first save opportunity since May 5. --1B Daric Barton was limited by illness over the weekend, sitting out Saturday and getting one at-bat on Sunday. The rookie is 4-for-his-last-49 with 10 walks in the last 18 games, and his playing time has dipped considerably since the A's signed Frank Thomas in late April.
--C Kurt Suzuki has a six-game hitting streak during which he is hitting .364, but over the last month the second-year player's average is .220. He has a career .321 average against Boston after going 3-for-4 on Sunday.
--LHP Dana Eveland's next start will be shifted to Thursday against Toronto, with RHP Rich Harden remaining on regular rest to start Wednesday. That tweak of the rotation splits up Oakland's lefties, Greg Smith and Eveland, and it keeps Harden in line to pitch at Anaheim at the end of the month.
--3B Eric Chavez is in a rehab assignment with Class AAA Sacramento on Monday. Chavez (back) is eligible to come off the DL on Tuesday, but the A's have said they want to wait to make sure Chavez is completely ready and feels comfortable at the plate and in the field.
BY THE NUMBERS: 11 -- Times the A's have used the disabled list this season, already halfway to last year's Oakland-record mark of 22. Andrew Brown was the most recent addition to the DL after requiring an appendectomy last week. Eric Chavez and Kiko Calero are both close to coming off the DL, perhaps within the next week.
