Powell doesn't get much playing time; Kurt Suzuki leads AL catchers with 110 games started and 983 innings caught. When Powell plays, though, he has shown he has as much power as anyone on the club -- he has hit three homers and has driven in nine runs in his last six games. BY THE NUMBERS: 94 -- Starts made by A's rookies this year through Aug. 30, an Oakland record. The previous mark was 93, set in 1983. Oakland had started a rookie in 68 of the past 83 games through Aug. 30.
