A's bring up Buck
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Athletics called up outfielder Travis Buck from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday and he was in the starting lineup in right field and batting sixth against the AL West champion Los Angeles Angels.

Buck, who was with the A's on opening day, is on the big league roster for the third time this season. He rejoined Oakland the same night the Sacramento River Cats were playing for the Triple-A title that Buck helped them reach by way of winning the Pacific Coast League championship.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him play," manager Bob Geren said. "He had a lot of time off but once he got back he helped Sacramento to the championship. I'd like to see Travis get in some games. He got off to a very slow start this year. That's behind him and I'd like to see him play like he did last year."

Buck has had his share of injury problems this year, including the first of three stints on the disabled list during his first time with the A's. He went on the DL retroactive to April 19 with shin splints, then missed time two more times in June and July with a concussion.

The 24-year-old Buck is batting .160 with three home runs and 13 RBIs in 26 major league games in 2008. He hit .296 in 45 regular-season games with the River Cats and .313 with a home run and four RBIs in eight playoff games to help the River Cats win the PCL title.
