A's agree to terms with Duchscherer
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Athletics agreed to terms on a $3.9 million, one-year contract Saturday with right-hander Justin Duchscherer, the club's last remaining roster player eligible for arbitration.

A two-time All-Star, sidelined by a strained right hip late in the season that later required arthroscopic surgery, went 10-8 with a 2.54 ERA in 22 starts for Oakland last season - his first year as a full-time starter after spending most of his career as a setup man. He also had hip surgery in July 2007.

Duchscherer still led the A's in wins last season despite two trips to the disabled list. Under his new deal, Duchscherer also can earn an additional $150,000 in performance bonuses based on starts.

The A's agreed to a $2.8 million, one-year deal with designated hitter and outfielder Jack Cust on Jan. 14, leaving only Duchscherer's situation left to be settled.
